I was born in Mexico, but I have lived around the US for most of my life. I have both noble Spanish and Huichol Indian roots.
I received my PhD in anthropology in Albany in 2006; and my dissertation, on modern Mexican folklore on witchcraft and shape-shifters, was funded by a Fulbright research grant. While I have been teaching undergraduate-level anthropology in New England since 2007, I also moonlight as an aspiring novelist in spirituality, science fiction, and fantasy. I am especially interested in indigenous knowledge, language, and religion, and I occasionally visit Nahua and Otomí villages near the Gulf of Mexico to learn about grammar and shamanism. I speak Spanish, Nahuatl, and a fair amount of German; I can also read some French.
I am a prolific amateur photographer and filmmaker, my work drawn largely from museums and travels. (Samples of my photos and films appear on my YouTube profile, edgarsmontages.)

Howdy! I was born in Texas, mostly reared in Texas, currently live in Texas, and I have a B.S. in Geology from Texas A&M. I had a seven year career as an environmental consultant after college, but have spent my years since masquerading as an engineer.
Random information about me: I am an ambivert. I was married on the Ides of March in 2003 (still married... to the same lovely lady). I am a fierce disc golfer. I enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities. I can ride a unicycle. The number 22 and wearing black shoes make me strangely uncomfortable; unless they are soccer shoes, those seem to be fine. I enjoy chess, but do not excel at it. I take photographs of nature. I can perform the stomp buck time step and a few other tap dancing maneuvers. I collect fossil, and have found several dinosaur tracks, including natural casts of theropod tracks, on my father-in-laws property near Glen Rose, TX. Though I am from Texas, I don’t own any guns [is my address posted here???], I don’t drive a truck, and I believe that government should be secular.

That's me, on the left, and my beautiful trophy wife of 50 years Diana on our 50th wedding anniversary somewhere in the Caribbean. I did good huh? I retired from the US Army 28 years ago as a Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. So far-so good. I have absolutely no intention of ever retiring because I believe I would be bored beyond belief if I did. I have a small construction management company that keeps me busy about half of the time and that works just fine for me. What I really want is world peace. If I can't get world peace I'll take a really good slice of New York style pizza. Oh, and I write poetry....... sometimes, or what I refer to as "poem-stories" plus actual poetry. In truth, the poem-stories are more fun to write (and all are true).

I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a Demonstrated Master Logistician (DML), have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in Project Management. The focus of my life right now is taking care of my children and working the grind.
